Friday Picks...
Now is the time for some separation. This will be a weekend to remember for some and for others a weekend to forget.
For Trevor this will be the true test of a champion. How will he perform under intense pressure? Trevor says "remain calm!!"
And for Kenul who is nearing the opening of baseball season with his picks in the WBC. Is he really the baseball psychic?? Steve-0 says "I'm getting serious!!"
For Hunt will he be able to build upon his lead coming from last place? He is now in sole possession of first place once again. This is familiar territory for him. The Dong says "I want to drink some bath water!!"
For Willis FD will he continue his torrid pace to win ROY honors? Or will he fall like coach Sutton?
You might want to listen to your wife man!!!
And as for James ending the first season in last place and now midway through the second season how will he respond? The UW says " Don't forget about Pittsnoggle."
Ladies and gentelman, this is the moment of truth! I am going to throw out all caution and just go for it. By the end of this weekend, I will either be in 1st place or so far back I will never be able to catch up.

The Dong's Season 1 Concession Speech

Well what can I say.....???? I let my overconfidence get the best of me in Season 1 and it end up costing me the title. My congrats goes to Trevor Hammack who put up a fight to the end and didn't make it easy for me so he deserves to be champ.
Just like the Yankees of 2004, nothing is a sure thing in the world of sports and can ultimately cause an embarrasing outcome.
Even though I suffered a crushing and embarrassing defeat, I vow to come back strong and competitive for season 2 and hopefully get some sweet revenge at the end.
Stay Tuned!!!

Season 1 final picks...
NCAA Men's College Basketball:Wisconsin at

Hunt: Since my method of picking home teams in college basketball is done now, I guess I'll have to go with Wisconsin in this one

Stumper Steve: Northwestern
Willis FD: Wisconsin
The WU Beavers: I have to go with Wisconsin they beat me before but I have to try to win with them tonight. I could pick everything that Steve does and finish in 3rd place or I could try to win tonight and still finish in 3rd place by 3 games. Or finish in 4th.
Northwestern wins in a blowout.

Final Day Unless....
Thursday will be the close of season 1 unless Hammack pulls even with Hunt!! For the first time all season Hunt went 0-3. After the weekend Hunt looked as if he'd runaway with the season 1 title. But hold on Hammack has stormed back and is only one game out. I have taken over third place but Steve is right behind.
And WILLIS FD don't hang your head over your first defeat they're will be plenty more to come!!!!!!
Quote of the first year "Look at me I'm 3 and 0." Where are you now????
Hunt all I have to say now is "It looks likes like someone has your name written down." And it's not Santa Claus!!!

We need 5 more total games.
Just to let everyone know after the late game on Tuesday (mavs and clippers). We are only at 25 games. Kenul is to pick what games will be for Wednesday. If he picks 2 games we will only be at 27 so we will need 3 more games and extend the first season past Thursday possibly into Friday night. Let me know what you guys think so I can be prepared to make any picks if necessary. It doesn't matter who picks them.
Hey Steve-O this one's for you!!

Here at ESBN we have a newcomer to our league. He will be doing his best at "predicting" sports games. The next few games will suffice as his preseason. Good luck!!

Monday Night Action

The first game on our "predictions" list saw #15 West Virginia travel to Syracuse to face the Orangemen. At half time WV was up by one point. But at the end of the game it was Syracuse winning the game by a score of 60-58. This was a great game. I had to keep myself from screaming at the TV at ARMC. I got this upset.
Win-Willis
Loss-Hammack, Hunt, Kenul
The second game pitts #20 OU versus TT and Bobby Knight. Right now the score is 26-25 sooner favor and Bobby is steaming mad!!
With 23 seconds left OU had possession and after missing a jump shot some white dude tipped in the rebound and with 4.5 seconds left OU led by a score of 71-70. Texas Tech could not drive the length of the court and score. OU wins 71-70. I'm so happy I changed my pick!!! And I know Trevor is hating changing his pick!!!

Chunky at the half...
At half time in the Ohio State and Wisconsin game, Ohio State leads 37-28. Hopefully for my sake and sanity the Buckeyes will pull this one out in the second half. I need this game badly.
Also it is almost tip off time in Denver between the Suns and Nuggets.
Updates to come....It looks as if the Buckeyes will be defeated on the road at Wisconsin. And Phoenix is blowing out Denver in the second quarter.
Well I guess I'm the first to double digit losses. I just can't wait until next Thursday to begin our second round of 30 predictions.

He beat Scott "The Sandman" Pemberton. So all is good. Up next hopefully is the always cocky Sergio Moran (I mean Mora). The second fight was such crap!! That fight had to be thrown for Moran to win. MONDAY NIGHT!!
Villanova Beats U conn!!
Once again I picked the upset and it happened!
The U.S. men routed the defending Olympic champions 11-5 in the opening game of the curling tournament on Monday, scoring a whopping five points in the eighth end and forcing Norway to concede with two frames to go.
Another one for the win column for me!

It doesn't look good
It is over! Dallas will win the game. The Destroyers did a great job trying to come back. They had a lot of injuries that occured during the game. In fact it was so bad that their backup quarterback had to play linebacker!

Phoenix over Sacramento
Time for the Chunky Soup post game report.
The Phoenix Suns took care of the Sacramento Kings by a score of 112-104. Newly acquired Ron Artest scored 28 points in a losing effort while Steve Nash had 24 points of his own.
This game doesn't do much in the standings for any of us but I did get my first win and Steve-o is still in first with an unblemished record of 3-0. Stay tuned for more predictions this weekend.
By the way Hunt who is Dallas's Daddy tonight? If you're not down with the Nuggets then:

Stars vs Sharks
I'll keep it quick. The second period is still young and the score right now is tied at one a piece. I am currently 3-0 and on FIRE!! Nobody can stop Schwab Jr.

FRIDAY NIGHT
Tonight we have the Kings vs Suns. The outcome is pretty easy to predict. The Suns should easily beat the Kings. So we have all chosen the Suns. So no one will really be gaining any ground. If the Suns win we all get the win, if they loose we all get a loss. I am almost tempted to change my pick, but come on! the Kings beating the Suns, It should not happen. We will post some updates during the rest of the evening.
UPDATE:
It is the 3rd quarter and the score is Kings 54 and the Suns 67

MAVS PIMP SLAP HEAT

The Dallas Mavericks (yes, my Dallas Mavericks) extended their NBA best winning streak to 13 games by bitch-slapping Shaquille O'Neal and the Miami Heat last night 112-76. Throughout this very impressive winning streak, the Mavs have held their opponents to under 100 points in every game (this is not a misprint, the Mavs can now play DEFENSE!!!).
League MVP candidate Dirk "the destroyer" Nowitzki scored a game high 27 points to lead his team while 5 Mavs were in double figures led by Jason Terry's 16 pts & 7 Assts.
The Mavs' record now stands at 39-10 for the season, which is a game and a half behind the Detroit Pistons for the best record in the NBA.
And as for all you who went against the Mavs (you know who you are???) I just got one question for you: WHO'S YOUR DADDY?

The 2006 Soup Bowl Trophy
Just a little FYI. I have ordered the 2006 Soup Bowl Trophy for the person who wins the most cans of soup in the Soup Bowls throughout the 2006 season. The trophy will not be ready for about another week. But it will be about 1 1/2 feet tall and about 1 1/2 wide. This trophy will signify the 2006 Soup Bowl Champion. The winners name will be embossed into the trophy.
I also ordered 4 commerative member trophies. These four stunning trophies will signify the opening season and each charter member in the 2006 Soup Bowl league.
I will post pics as soon as I get them.

Heat vs. Dallas halftime.

Time for the Chunky Soup halftime report.
Well Dallas is not feeling the Heat as I predicted so far. The heat won the tip off. But the Mavs lead 51-38. Shaq has a team high for the Heat at 15. Dirk Nowitzki has 13 for a team high for the Mavs. Avery Johnson has done a very good job of containing Dewayne Wade who only has 5 points at the half.
Well hopefully Dallas will feel the Heat or I will be 0-2 starting out the season. Hunt and Hammack will both be 1-1 and Steve-o Supreme-o will be 2-0 is Dallas keeps this up.
Tune in to TNT to catch the rest of the game. Will Dallas win it's 13th game in a row?

Besides all that, a Shark is a lot more frightening then Stars! I mean come on, Stars for a hockey teams. Sounds like something from brokeback.... ohhh never mind:)
Willis U:
Nice Shark Trevor!!! I hate the Stars but I'm gonna have to pick them. Ok look here Hammack I know a Star for a mascot doesn't sound like the best mascot name, but they will be shinning bright deep in the heart of Texas!!!

HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM!

During the 4th quarter of the Houston Rockets game against the Los Angles Lakers, the Rockets ran out of fuel and made a crash landing! There were only two casualties reported: Bradley Willis and Clifton Hunt. These two individuals were foolish enough to actually believe the Rockets could beat Superman(Kobe Bryant) and the Lakers.
So it was a great night for basketball, as the Lakers (and Trevor and Steve) were victorious over the Rockets (and Bradley and Clifton).

UPDATE

It is 8:44pm and it looks like my choice to go with the thrashers tonight is going up in smoke! The score was Thrasers 0 Leafs 2 at the end of the second period. 18 seconds into the 3rd period the Thrasers SCORE! but less then a minute later the Leafs score. At that point I realized all hope was lost :(
Well I had the courage to choose the Thrasers and maybe next time I will get the win.

HOCKEY TONIGHT

Hello everyone,
Tonight the focus is on hockey and we have an important matchup!
The eighth-place Toronto Maple Leafs host one of the teams chasing them in the East, the Atlanta Thrashers tonight (7:30 p.m. ET). The Leafs are 3-0 vs. the Thrashers this season.
Now if you are new to this blog let me explain how this works:
This Blog is the creation of four guys who like sports. So we talk about sports and give our predictions. We have a little competiton for certain sporting events. We all buy a can of soup and the person who predicts right, wins the soup!
There is no soup on the line tonight just pride :)
Here are the picks:
Trevor Hammack: Thrashers You may be asking why are you picking the Thrashers. They have lost 3 times this season agains the Leafs! I know, but what seperats the boys from the men is the courage to look fear in the face and not blink :) So I am picking the Thrashers
Clifton Hunt: Maple Leafs
Bradley Willis: Maple Leafs

SOUP BOWL 1
Eleven days from now the 1'st Soup Bowl will take place. You may be asking "what is the soup bowl"?
Let me explain, A group of guys try to demonstrate their knowledge about sports by picking who will win. The prize for this accomplishment is not millions of dollars or fame, but a can of soup! Each participant is to buy a can of soup, the winner takes home all the soup,, and to the loosers, well:

The first sporting event for Soup Bowl 1 is the Daytona 500:
Trevor Hammack is picking Dale Earnhardt
Jr.
Steve Kenul has chosen Kurt Busch

Bradley Willis and Clifton Hunt has chosen Jeff Gordon

Who will take home the soup? The whole world will know in 11 days!
