Should This Even Be News?

Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams tested positive for marijuana in April and will not be allowed to apply for reinstatement to the NFL until September, sources said.

Williams was suspended last year for violating the substance abuse policy and was eligible to be reinstated this month, but the league's medical advisers who oversee Williams' personal rehabilitation program recently notified commissioner Roger Goodell of the positive test, sources said.

The doctors also recommended that Williams not be allowed to apply for reinstatement until September, sources said. The commissioner usually adheres to the advice of the medical advisers under the substance abuse policy.

Cinco De Mayo Fight

Alright, here is my take on this fight on Saturday. First of all, the promoters and the boxing world are set for a huge pay day from this fight. This fight has been scheduled for "Cinco de Mayo", you've got the Golden boy Oscar De La Hoya, the pride and joy of the American Mexican Community, and Mexico of course. How can you go wrong, schedule the fight on a day you know that the Mexican community and many Americans, gather together to drink and enjoy all the festivities. Hey, you have to give it to them they have played the cards right. So has the golden boy De La Hoya, he is not washed up yet, but is very close to it. He does not have the same pop as he did years ago, and yet he accepted to fight a fighter that is in his prime. Even though he may get his butt whooped, he did this for one reason, to make money. De La Hoya is expected to make a guarantee in excess of $20 million for the fight and will share in the pay-per-view profits. Now, I am pulling for Oscar, but he is going against a fighter that might be quicker, and has some pop. If Oscar can keep Floyd still and not let him run around, he wins it (shocked if this happens). So I will be very surprised if Oscar wins...but, what the hell, I am going with the Latino underdog, so Go Oscar...who do you all got? Shall we make it a soup?

An April to Forget!!!

- No Yankees team has finished April this many games under .500 since 1984. That '84 team had an 8-13 April, which meant that even a 79-62 finish didn't help it climb higher than third place, 17 games behind the Tigers.

-So when was the last time the Yankees were this far behind Boston after April? How about 1912, when they started out 2-10 (while the Red Sox went 9-4). And how did that season turn out? The Red Sox won 105 games and won the World Series. The Yankees lost 102 -- and finished 55 games out of first.
